Deepening Our Spiritual Roots

Dear friends,

In honoring our beloved teacher, Thầy, we previously organized two trips to Vietnam to come in touch with Thầy’s roots to learn and understand the elements and conditions that contributed to Thầy’s growth in his aspirations, practice, volitions and dreams. Coming in touch with Thầy’s roots also means tapping into our own spiritual roots. As continuations of Thầy, understanding our spiritual roots is essential in connecting deeply with Thầy and strengthening our own aspirations and practice.

In the coming February 2025 (13 February to 4 March), we will continue this aspiration of deepening our connection with Thầy through understanding the spiritual traditions that had nourished Thầy, and the Vietnamese history and culture that inspired Thầy in his lifetime.

We will visit temples that were built during the Lý and Tran Dynasties, the two dynasties when Buddhism was practiced by the whole country, from the kings and royalties to the common people. We will also visit historical monuments and temples of important historical figures that shaped Vietnam and the Vietnamese culture up until the present. We will also visit the beautiful and majestic mountainous landscapes of Vietnam that have protected Vietnam over the millennia from invasions and foreign domination. On this trip, we will explore and visit North Vietnam, the seat of Vietnamese civilization for more than 4,000 years.

The trip consists of two segments, 10 days for each segment. You can join one or both segments. We plan to bring 25-30 people for each segment on this trip. The last day to register is December 15, 2024.

May each moment of your daily life bring you closer to Thay and to all the spiritual ancestors within you.
