The New Year’s Week at Plum Village was a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community and begin the year with mindfulness and compassion. Over 500 friends and monastics gathered to reflect on the past year, release what no longer serves us, and start fresh with clear intentions.
On New Year’s Eve, we celebrated our togetherness during the Be-In session and welcomed the New Year with sitting meditation at midnight. It was a powerful reminder that peace within ourselves is the foundation for peace in our families and in the world. Also, the New Year’s Eve Dharma talk and the Welcoming New Year Ceremony were live-streamed on YouTube, with over 700 people joining online for each event.
Throughout the week, we practiced sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful eating, and total relaxation, while listening to Dharma talks and listening to one another in circle sharings. These practices helped us to deepen our understanding and strengthen our commitment to live more fully and mindfully in the year ahead.
We hope these captured moments inspire you to continue your own journey of mindfulness and peace. May we all take steps toward creating a more compassionate and harmonious world together.
