In Thầy’s Footsteps in Vietnam – Winter 2027

Un voyage en pleine conscience vers nos racines spirituelles

The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green Earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive.

— Thich Nhat Hanh

Accompanied by the monastic community of Plum Village, this mindful journey is a traveling retreat that begins in the south of Vietnam and moves north toward the center of the country. It invites you to discover the spiritual and cultural roots of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, also known as “Thay.”

This traveling retreat alternates times of mindfulness practice with the Plum Village community and responsible travel experiences, in contact with the landscapes and the local people. Throughout the journey, there will be moments of meeting, deep listening, sharing, meditation and body awareness.

This retreat is offered in French only

Pilgrimage Highlights

  • Meeting the monastic community at Từ Hiếu “Root Temple” in Huế, the temple where Thay was ordained as a novice.
  • Visiting the Central Highlands region, including Bát Nhã (Prajna) Monastery, Phương Bối Hermitage and Từ Đức Temple in Cam Ranh Province.
  • Upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), a guided visit to the School of Youth for Social Service, founded by Thay, where the Order of Interbeing, the first Tiếp Hiện community, was established.
