2026 Yên Tử Mountain Retreat and Pilgrimage in the Steps of our Beloved Teacher, Thầy for Mandarin-speaking practitioners
Dear friends,
In the spring of 2026, at the request of our Mandarin-speaking practitioners, we will offer a four-day retreat on Yên Tử Mountain, the birthplace of Vietnamese Engaged Buddhism founded by King Trần Nhân Tông in the 13th century.
Inspired by Thầy’s deep gratitude to the Chinese ancestral teachers and by his lifelong vision of bringing peace and happiness through the Dharma, this retreat will be a precious opportunity for Mandarin speakers to:
- Cultivate mindfulness, concentration, and insight
- Reconnect with the roots of our traditions
- Learn how to engage mindfully with today’s challenges of busyness, climate crisis, and uncertainty
The journey will last ten days and include:
- 4 days of retreat on Yên Tử Mountain
- 2 days of pilgrimage and sightseeing in Ninh Bình
- 4 days in Huế, visiting the Root Temple where Thầy was ordained and other historic temples that shaped his life
Together, we will practice, learn, and walk in the footsteps of our ancestral teachers in some of Vietnam’s most breathtaking landscapes.
Schedule
Segment 1
- 19/2 Arrival in Hanoi
- 20/2 Travel to Yên Tử Mountain, where King Trần Nhân Tông ordained as a monk and who greatly influenced Thầy’s life and Engaged Buddhism.

- 22/2 Retreat schedule
- 23/2 Retreat schedule (Afternoon: Depart for Ninh Bình, or return to Hanoi for those ending after the first segment)
- 24/2 End of Segment 1
Segment 2
- 24–25/2 Two days in Ninh Bình, known for its majestic landscapes. We will enjoy boat and bicycle rides through legendary sites once used by kings and generals of the Trần Dynasty as bases for planning resistance against three Mongol invasions. (Return to Hanoi)
- 26/2 End of Segment 2
Segment 3
- 26/2 Fly to Huế for those continuing the pilgrimage to visit the Root Temple
- 27/2 Visit the Root Temple and Báo Quốc Buddhist Institute, where Thầy studied as a young monk, and pay respect at our lineage patriarch Liễu Quán’s stupa
- 28/2 Visit Linh Mụ Temple and Huế’s Imperial City
- 1/3 Departure day – End of pilgrimage

亲爱的朋友们：
应中文语界修习者请求，我们将于2026年春季在越南安子山（Yên Tử Mountain）举办为期四天的禅修营。安子山是十三世纪陈朝皇帝陈仁宗创立越南入世佛教的发源地。
本次禅修营秉承Thầy（一行禅师）对中国禅宗祖师的深切感恩，以及冀望通过佛法带来和平与幸福的毕生宏愿，为中文语界修习者提供珍贵的机会：
• 培育念定慧
• 连接我们灵性修习传统的根源
• 学习以正念应对当今忙碌生活、气候危机与不确定性的挑战
全部旅程共十天，分为三段：
• 第一段：安子山4日禅修营
• 第二段：宁平（Ninh Bình）2日朝圣与游览
• 第三段：顺化（ Huế ）4日参访（参访Thầy的祖庭及其他对Thay有深远影响的重要寺院）
我们将一起修习、学习，跟随祖師們的足迹，走在越南一些最壯美的景观之间。
暂定行程：
【第一段】
• 2月19日：抵河内
• 2月20日：赴安子山（陈仁宗出家圣地，对Thầy及入世佛教影响深远）
禅营开始
• 2月21-23日：禅修营日程
• 2月23日下午：赴宁平（仅参加首段者返河内）
• 2月24日：第一阶段活动结束
【第二段】
• 2月24-25日：宁平两日游（这里以壮丽景致闻名。我们将乘船，骑车漫游传奇胜地— 这里曾是陈朝帝王将相运筹帷幄，三次击退蒙古铁骑的战略要地。）
• 返河内
• 2月26日：第二阶段活动结束
【第三段】
• 2月26日：飞顺化（继续朝圣之旅参访祖庭的参加者）
• 2月27日：参访祖庭、Thầy年少修学的报国佛学院，礼谒了观祖师塔
• 2月28日：朝拜灵姥寺、顺化皇城
• 3月1日：返程日——朝圣之旅圆满
