Songs / Creative Fruits Of The Practice

Inspired by the Plum Village practice and the willingness to spread the practice of love and understanding, our friends compose songs as a mindfulness bell to remind them to practice in daily life. We would like to introduce some of them and hope you enjoy it.

Breathe, my dear – Việt Kỳ & Phương Hà

Our friends, Việt Kỳ & Phương Hà, who practiced for a long time with Plum Village, composed this song. The song comes from the practice of the interbeing of all beings and having the willingness to cultivate love and understanding in themselves. It’s like the mindfulness bell to stop the wandering of the mind.

Breathe, my dear
Namo Sakyamunaye Buddhaya (x2)
Breathing in, breathing out (x2)
Who am I, who are you
Am I you, are you me?
I’m in you, you’re in me
We are one, we are all
I’m my mother, you’re your father
We are inter-be, we are inter-are
Breathing in, breathing out (x2)
Namo Sakyamunaye Buddhaya (x2)

What Unites Us – Bert Evens

Bert Evens is inspired by many teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh so he composes this song and it starts with the morning gatha that we usually practice every morning when we wake up.

“Waking up this morning, I smile.
Twenty-four brand new hours are before me.
I vow to live fully in each moment
and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.”

Arrived – Segev Horowitz

Contemplating a long time about “how the music and Dharma can come together” and “how can music support and deepen the practice of love and understanding”, Segev Horowitz  found the beautiful and inspiring Teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village tradition. Even a simple song helps to open his heart, to generate the energy of Mindfulness and to be fully alive, to fully Arrive… He made another version of this song and hope it can benefit others to feel at home wherever they are, to be solid, free and unshakable.

Arrived
Arrived, arrived
At home, I am at home
Dwelling in the here and dwelling in the now
Solid as a mountain, free as a white cloud
The door of no birth and no death is open
Free and unshakeable

Lyrics By Plum Village Monastics
